Amateur radio exams are given in even numbered months at Topeka Kansas on the second Saturday at 2:00 PM. Tests are administered through the ARRL-VEC and the test fee is $15.00. Sponsored by Kaw Valley Amateur Radio Club. Location for 2024 will be The Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library.   Room locations will vary.  Map is provided below.

To locate other test sites go to ARRL Exam Sessions , or W5YI Exam Sessions.

Preregistration is requested for both sites. This helps us to be better prepared on test day, and assures that the test will be held. When no registrations are made by 6:00 PM on Wednesday preceding test day, test sessions are subject to CANCELLATION.

FCC now requires that all test takers have a FRN before test day. This is a 10 digit number that must be used with ALL license transactions with the FCC. If you have ever been licensed, you should have one. If you do not have a FRN, you can get one by going to FCC CORES , then select REGISTER.

On test day you will need a government issued identification (generally a drivers license), and a copy of your old amateur license if you are upgrading.
